First Bank of Nigeria Limited has announced sponsoring the 5th edition of the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo golf tournament, coordinated by the Abeokuta Golf Club. The competition, slated to take place on Saturday, August 14th, 2021, will feature Chief Obasanjo performing the ceremonial Tee-off to the awe of the 150 golfers across Nigeria.
Kola Adeneye, Captain of the Abeokuta Golf Club, commented on the competition, saying, “Abeokuta golf club is setting up this tournament, fully sponsored by First Bank of Nigeria Limited, to celebrate Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, whom we all know to be an icon, a patriotic Nigerian, and an entrepreneur.” He deserves celebration, and it is not just when someone dies that you do so.
“So, Abeokuta Golf Club has organized this event to celebrate him, and today is the fifth edition, and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to FirstBank for their support… It will be a fantastic experience, a pleasant trip for golfers from all across Nigeria to come and celebrate Baba Olusegun Obasanjo,”– Kola Adeneye.
Mr Tunde Owolabi, FirstBank’s Group Executive, Retail Banking (Lagos & West), highlighted the Bank’s contribution to sports development in Nigeria, saying, “we are delighted to join The Abeokuta Golf Club to honour Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for the indelible roles he has played to the socio-economic and political development of the country.” The Bank’s influence in developing sports in Nigeria is under its First@Sport initiative.
